Article: Traditional white? No thank you!!

In North America when someone mentions the word wedding, we automatically associate it to a beautiful bride in her pristine white gown. The cake is white with ornate, white flowers and the table linens are breezy, soft and WHITE.

Of course, this is a beautiful image, very classic and elegant, however with today’s multicultural society we have been wonderfully influenced by all the cultures around us. In Montreal specifically, the large Indian and Chinese communities have brought us rich colors of red, yellow, gold and orange, while our Haitian friends bring in their tropical flair with vivid turquoise, tangerine and bright pinks. Couples are not only embracing those influences, but they also want their guests understand who they are in their everyday lives.

For the upcoming season, most couples that have come to me are making bold choices: purples, limes, browns, hot pinks, reds, neo-baroque tablecloth in black and white that has been featured a few weeks ago on this blog. To those of you who choose to celebrate in Technicolor, I salute you!

Nouvelles Bravo: Congratulation to the President

Everyone at Bravo would like to congratulate it's President Andrew Paquette for his nomination on the American Rental Association (ARA) board of directors executive committee. It is important to mention that Mr. Paquette is and will continue to be for the next year the Director of the Canadian region of the American Rental Association (ARA). We are certain that Andrew will offer his full support to this organisation and will bring the same knowledge and wisdom that he has brought Bravo over the last 20 years. Bravo.

Bravo News: We're in the Top 10

According to the magazine Canadian Event Perspective, Bravo Rentals has made it to the canadian's favorite party rental company top 10. In their most recent publication, read by 30,000 professionals of the event industry, they published a survey where was compiled favorite rental firms in Canada. We want to thank the people that mention our name in this survey, and believe me when I say that this honor goes to our clients that demands of us constant renewal of our ways of thinking and creating special events.

Bravo Product: The Artform of Hors d'oeuvre

At most events, appetizers, hors d'oeuvre, antipasto or tapas are guests' first impression of what the event will be. How to create excitement with a piece of food not bigger than a one dollar loonie is often a work of art and originality. It's all about the presentation, get rid of those silver trays and concentrate on framing your food like it deserves.

2" square plate, shot glasses, asian spoon or Bravo's own Appetizer spoon and fork can make a single hors d'oeuvre a presentation of it's own. Look at your appetizer menu and imagine each item on it's own. A traditional shrimp cocktail can look interesting if you fill a asian spoon with cocktail sauce and stand a shrimp in it. Have the napkins rolled in Bravo's appetizer fork with their first bite already on the table on your guests arrival. Stand up chicken finger in a shot glass full of sauce.

With minimal effort you can transform the most boring bite in something that your guests will eat with their eyes before they eat with their teeth.

Bravo Product: Neo Baroque

Neo Baroque as been fashionable since mid-2007 and Montreal is finally having a taste of it. We're not usually behind but this time we have been waiting patiently for our event organisers to start requesting some of these pieces that makes it or breaks it. Wheter it's a simple black victorian tray, a black and white damask cloth and the now inevitable Louis Ghost chiar from Kartell and Philippe Stark, some of these pieces can transform your event.

The classic black and white damask cloth is chic, gives a bold statement with style. With such a slick elegance, it's easier to keep your surrounding simple and pure. Using this pattern can of course appear in a wedding, a gala black tie event or a new modern style lounge. Bravo offers a few of these pieces that we can add to your decor and give a look worthy of a 2008 Marie-Antoinette.

Industry News: Montreal High Lights

l'Équipe Spectra offered us once again a record edition of this year's Montreal High Lights festivals. The festival of Montreal urban food and stage presented this year the best of Toronto's chefs and a overnight city party that some of us will not forget.

We already knew that Montreal was one of the worlds biggest festival city but the High Lights Festival is about to change the picture and is offering a good reason to go out of our snow covered doors. With the newly announced support from the goverment to Québec's biggest festivals, next year will probably hit new records
